Ding Dong

No matter how I try to avoid it, (or at least not pay attention to it), almost every photo jaunt will inevitable include at least one doorbell photo. If doors represent gates or a transition from one phase in life to another, what does a doorbell reveal?

Stroll Down Divisadero

With it's mix of grit, street art and new eateries and boutiques, the Divisadero corridor is quickly becoming one of my favorite visual hang-outs.

New Year's Resolutions

This time last year, I had just completed participating in my first group photography show (200 Yards) at Dirty Thieves. My photography had officially transformed from a hobby that helped me through a difficult time into something more tangible and "official".  I am thankful for the friends, both near and far, that have supported my photography and helped push me to follow my creative passion.

It's been quite a year and since then. I've participated in 2 additional 200 Yards group shows, presented at Open Show SF, been accepted as part of a national juried show in Maryland, attended National Geographic's Travel Photography workshop and had several photos featured in numerous local blogs. All while having fun, I must add.

Creating an official website is the last of my 2010 photography resolutions and was probably the most challenging as 1) I am a perfectionist, 2) I am not a technologist in any sense of the word (just got internet installed at home this year, yes, I know I'm about 10 years behind the times) and 3) I'd much rather be wandering around taking photographs than sitting at home in front of a computer. While there's still some tweaks and fine-tuning to do, I feel like it's time to officially launch it so I can start focusing on other things....

As far as those "other things", I have a lot of ideas for 2012 which I'll share shortly. There's a lot of change a'brewing and I feel the desire to expand my photography, involve others and get out of my comfort zone. I feel it's going to be a big year and I hope you can come along for the ride!

Thanks to each of you that have helped me through 2011. I am grateful for your support and hope the holidays have something special in store for you.

Happy Holidays and here's to big plans in the New Year...

Field of Dreams

It was cold and foggy. I felt acutely aware of my loneliness as I walked through Mendocino, when I came upon this field. An empty lot of land surrounded my homes, churches, businesses. Why was it empty? What opportunities does it hold? Like myself, it was isolated and yet I found hope and comfort in the warm pink lilies at it's edge....

Message on the Mirror

There's something to be said about being in the right place at the right time. In this case the right time was late Saturday lunch at Cha Cha Chas on Haight and the right place....well, that would be their women's restroom. As I pride myself on being the "finder of hearts", I was especially excited to discover a lipgloss painted heart on the bathroom mirror. Who was intended for? What was it's message? I guess that's someone else's story.
